ESR spectrometer for detecting biophysical features

Studies of biomolecule's structure are a classical application for the MS5000 EPR/ESR spectrometer. In combination with autosampler ESR spectroscopy continuously contributes to biophysics.

Biophysical features

Structural elucidation studies are a classical field of application for the MS5000 EPR/ESR spectrometer in combination with autosampler. ESR/EPR spectroscopy contributes in a different ways to areas such as biophysics where radicals may play a chemical role and can be used as labels or sensors. Since this spectroscopic method is able to „see“ the unpaired electron, and nothing else, it is an unique way to detect and measure radicals directly. Minimum requirement is the presence of a sufficiently high concentration of radicals, due to the high sensitivity of MS5000 ESR/EPR spectrometer reaching down to nanomolar range.

Optical Stimulation Unit

Optical stimulation unit consists of:

  • Integrated light source

  • External irradiation unit (Halogen lamp)

Wavelength range: 240 - 700 nm, dependent of the lamp inclusive light guide adapter at the MiniScope. (Other Wavelengths are available on request)
