How to choose the appropriate sample vessel for your sample

Sample Aggregation?

Liquid

Solutions, suspensions, blood, plasma, cell suspension, etc

Suitable sample vessels:

Capillary
  • For aqueous solutions maximal volume 50 µl
  • Used for liquid samples in solvents with high dielectric constant like e. g. water, alcohol, DMF
  • Standardized and calibrated sample vessels made of borosilicate
  • Cheap one way items
  • Easy sample exchange if used together with a matching guidance tube

Sample Tube
  • In dependence of the dielectric constant and the polarity of your solvent you can use sample tubes with an outer diameters of 3 to 6 mm, length 135, e. g. 4 to 6 mm sample tubes for radicals in hydrocarbons, benzole, toluole

Flat Cell
  • Used for samples in solvents with a high dielectric constant. The ideal sample distribution in the resonator leads to a 2 - 2.5 fold higher intensity compared to 50 µl capillaries.
  • You can choose between flat cells with capillary tubes or normal tubes and sealing with ground neck collets or closing caps.
  • The crucial point, when using a flat cell is the orientation of the flat section, the vertical position and the filled volume of the flat cell. Therefore we recommend using the special holder SH-P as the system to achieve always the same sample positioning.

Solid

Powder, solid compounds, vessels, tissue

Suitable sample vessels:

Sample Tube
  • The humidity of the sample restricts the outer diameter of the sample tube you can use.
  • Usually 4 and 5 mm sample tubes are used
  • In the case of high sample humidity you can use a finger dewar for measurement (see below).
  • The length 240 mm is adapted to the finger dewars, we offer.

Fixed temperature dewar
  • In the case of high sample humidity like in vessels and tissue you can either freeze the sample put it into a sample tube and measure it in a fixed temperature dewar at 77 K or you can use the frozen cylinder directly for the measurement using the dewar.

Special cuvettes
  • This cuvette is used alanine dosimetry of thin film test strips. The cuvette has a flat section too.
  • Furthermore we offer special tubes for alanine tablet dosimeters.

Emulsion, paste, skin sections, tissue sections

Tissue cell
  • The tissue cell is especially developed for skin sections, tissue sections, paste and emulsions.
  • You can clean it very easily.
  • The crucial point using a tissue cell is the orientation of the flat section, the vertical position and the filled volume of the flat cell. Therefore we recommend using the special holder SH-P as the system to achieve always the same sample positioning.
